[Medical Times · Daily Bosa = Reporter Inkyu Oh] Uzbekistan has been actively working to modernize its healthcare system in recent years, showing a proactive stance toward collaboration with foreign companies. In particular, demand for international technologies is rising across various sectors including digital health, pharmaceuticals, and aesthetic medicine supported by a steadily strengthening regulatory framework.

Central Asia represents a key emerging market for medical devices, with growing interest in Korean products and technologies and strong potential for meaningful collaboration. However, successful market entry requires more than product competitiveness it demands a thorough understanding of the local ecosystem, including regulatory approvals, distribution channels, and alignment with healthcare institutions. Crafting a tailored market strategy and building long-term partnerships with local stakeholders are essential for establishing a stable presence.
One company that stands out for successfully executing this approach is Korea’s DCT International, led by CEO Sehyuk Han. Its local branch, DCT Uzbek (headed by Country Director Jaewon Choi), made a powerful impression in the Central Asian medical market by participating in three major urology events held last month in the capital city of Tashkent.
More than a simple product launch, the events expanded the scope of education, clinical collaboration, and global partnerships. They served as a platform to demonstrate the competitiveness and global potential of K-Medical technology, while reinforcing the importance of sustainable, strategic cooperation.

DCT Uzbek served as the main sponsor for three key events: △ Central Asia Endo Urology Congress (CAEC 2025), △ RIRS Workshop – M Clinic, and △ RIRS Workshop – Republican Urology Center. In particular, CAEC 2025 saw the participation of leading urology experts from 14 countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, India, and Singapore.
The RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) workshops featured Professor Hyungjun Kim from Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, along with three other invited specialists. Through live surgical demonstrations and lectures, they shared the latest endoscopic techniques with local medical professionals.
Professors Haedo Jung (Ilsan Paik Hospital) and Beomsoo Kim (Kyungpook National University Hospital) garnered significant attention at CAEC, a hands-on conference featuring live and hybrid surgeries, real-time discussions, and masterclasses. They presented Korean clinical cases and surgical techniques, highlighting the sophistication of Korea’s urological practices.
Successful Launch of Daein Medical's Disposable Flexible Ureteroendoscope 'URUS'
At the event, DCT Uzbek officially launched Daine Medical Group’s single-use flexible ureteroscope, URUS, in Uzbekistan. The company also signed an MOU with the Republican Specialized Urology Center (RSU) to establish an integrated platform for education and clinical collaboration marking tangible progress in strengthening local medical infrastructure.

RUS garnered attention as a new standard in urology training and clinical practice in Central Asia, offering consistently optimal surgical performance without the burden of sterilization or maintenance. Its single-use design also resonated strongly with local medical professionals for its infection control benefits and cost-effectiveness.
In addition, during the event, DCT Uzbek signed an exclusive partnership with Wellead, a leading Chinese medical device manufacturer, successfully securing distribution rights across Central Asia.
Sehyuk Han, CEO of DCT International, stated, “This event marked a significant turning point not just in product introduction, but in elevating the standard of surgical practice across Central Asia. We plan to expand collaboration beyond Uzbekistan to neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.”
Jaewon Choi, Country Director of DCT Uzbek, added, “It was a meaningful opportunity to introduce Korea’s advanced medical devices and techniques to the region, while also laying the groundwork for strategic cooperation with global partners.”
Surgical consumables market expansion also accelerates, focusing on optimized design
DCT Uzbek also showcased surgical sutures from B. Braun and Quill barbed sutures from Corza Medical, aiming to expand its presence in the high-quality surgical consumables market. The Quill suture, in particular, drew attention for its design optimized for precise handling and enhanced wound healing, receiving highly positive feedback from local physicians.
DCT Uzbek’s recent initiatives are being recognized as a leading example of practical transformation in the Central Asian medical landscape going far beyond simple marketing. This wave of innovation, driven by the fusion of K-Medical devices and advanced surgical expertise, is now spreading from Tashkent to the entire Central Asian region.
